It was my first time using e-learning/distance learning; I found it a useful method of learning and highly interactive. I recommend it because it provides a chance to everyone worldwide to have access to up-to-date knowledge from a very good university. By using e-learning it is possible to save money compared to face to face education. I am a veterinarian and my work induces me to find answers for many epidemiologic questions that I learned in this course. I used my course materials, especially the “outbreak investigation” part, in my work just after finishing the course.
My name is Javad Emami. I am from the West Azerbaijan province, Iran. I am 44 years old, and I have 12 years of working experience in animal diseases prevention, control and surveillance division in an Iranian veterinary organization. I was provincial task manager in three common projects of an Iranian veterinary organization and FAO and EuFMD for control and prevention of FMD in Iran from 2006 to 2012. My work was the major motivator for participating in this course but I have a very good friend that introduced this course to me and encouraged me to enroll in it. Epidemiology is a very important part of my daily work because I am working with animal diseases and managing investigating and control measures of animal diseases in my province with help of my colleagues. We have many epidemiological questions every day that need to be answered so I decided to improve my work by enrolling in this course.
There were many ways to interact with my peers: discussion forums, reflections, the news forum and all peers can read your reflections and can reply to them. It is possible to read ideas from other people of different countries and to know what their experiences are. All of these aspects provide enjoyable moments to participants. Everyone in this course can find some friends all over the world and can continue sharing scientific materials after the course and this gives everyone happiness.
