''The program is fantastic. I especially like breadth of the course and the way we build on early concepts with more in depth analysis in later modules means you are always reinforcing your learning whilst still developing a deeper understanding of the principles and concepts of epidemiology, rather than simply how to perform set tasks. By having lectures that take these core concepts down to first principles, I feel we've gained a better grasp of the subject and can thus apply it to new problems to solve them!
The Fundamentals of Global Health course changed my perception for my work and the way I deal with my daily business. It highlighted the responsibility that I have toward the world to develop innovative affordable medicines. In addition, I am so delighted to understand the critical situation and the need to provide basic nutrition to the third world and how the political status affects people health and wealth. I now have a better ‘umbrella view’ understanding of why we develop medicines and why we should secure patient access to medicines worldwide.
I followed the Clinical Epidemiology course to get an impression of the educational and epidemiological vision of the Julius Center, UMC Utrecht. I found distance learning to be a very good way to study; you can follow the teaching assignments when it suits you, and also pause or repeat a lecture at your leisure, which of course is not the case in face-to-face teaching. Collaborating with other students went well.
