In 2001 Michiel Bots became appointed associate professor in epidemiology at UMC Utrecht. The studies he is involved in, vary from single center cross-sectional studies to multicenter international trials.
Over the years he has been involved as principal investigator in a variety of national and international studies on vascular topics and (have) serve(d) as a member in several executive committees of national and international randomized clinical trials. From 1997 he served as Managing (up to 2001) and Scientific director of Vascular Imaging Center Utrecht, a vascular core laboratory on quantification of structural, dynamic and functional arterial characteristics.
